Our staff are highly qualified individuals. Each staff and teacher of Sarah’s Heart receives proper continuing education training to help better serve the children of Sarah’s Heart.
Our staff always follows policies, which comply with West Virginia State Codes. All staff members are trained in compliance with West Virginia State licensing codes. All of our staff including the director are required by licensing to be properly trained in the fields below
- CPR and First Aid
- Medication Class (to distribute medicine properly to the children)
- child abuse and neglect
- Drug tested
- beginning at the date of employment teachers are required to maintain 15 hours of training with in the age group they work with per year.
- Employees are required to complete and maintain 45 hours of STARS training every 3 years and must be renewed every 3 years
- Employees that work with infants must complete or have complete ACDS or WVIT 1 and 2
- A degree in early childhood education is preferred but not required among our staff.
Meet our staff below!
Anita Kaye Nutter is the Director of Sarah’s Heart at our location in Hurricane, WV. She has been in the childcare field for 10+ years. She has a passion for helping children. She has a dual degree in Applied Science and Early Childhood Education. Her experience as the director of Sarah’s Heart has shown her all aspects of childcare. She is always looking for new ways to make her center the most accommodating for the children enrolled as well as her staff. Anita has an open door policy for parents, children, and staff members. She believes that every child is different and deserves care based on their needs. She and her staff do their best at Sarah’s Heart to ensure every child is well taken care of.
Maria Schneider is the Assistant Director at Sarah’s Heart at the Huntington, WV location. She worked in childcare for 9 years with children ranging from infant to preschool. She has her ACDS certification which helped her learn new and different techniques to teach children. She enjoys working with children and watching them grow into their own personalities. She loves being creative. Arts and crafts have always been a favorite of hers.
Sabrina Cain has been with Sarah’s Heart since 2011. She is a designated person in charge at the Hurricane location. She has completed WVIT1 and 2. She has 3 God children that she loves very much. She has attended Otter Branch Church since she was 5 days old. She is the Nursery Sunday School teacher and the Elementary School teacher on Wednesday nights at Otter Branch Church. She very involved in her work place and community.
Maddie Bostick is the lead teacher in the Nursery and has been an employee at Sarah’s Heart Childcare Hurricane, WV location for 2 years. She is currently attending Bridge Valley Community and Technical College for Sonography. She lives in Teays Valley with her 3 children. Outside of work she has a passion for cars.
Julie Akers is a mother of 4 children. She is the cook for the Hurricane WV location. She is a cheerleading coach and she teaches in the nursery at her church. She is CPR certified and has worked with children for over 7 years.
Cheyenne Derrick is the lead teacher in the 2 year old room at the Hurricane site. She has two boys of her own Kane (4) and Ronan (3) and they both attend Sarah’s Heart. Her favorite activities to do with the children are Music and Outside Play. Her main goal for her class is for the children to learn age appropriate curriculum such as shapes, colors, counting and the ABCs. Outside of work she loves the outdoors and traveling.
Matthews is the Preschool teacher. She has 3 grown children of her own and 6 grandchildren who are the highlight of her life. God blessed her to be able to stay at home while her children were growing up. She joined the work force when her youngest graduated from high school. She has had some wonderful opportunities and met some amazing people. It has been several years since she’s been in the “preschool scene” however she is thankful and feels truly blessed that God chose her for a time such as this.
Miss Hannah is our Preschool aide. She just recently moved to WV from Michigan where she was born and raised. She has always wanted to work with children. She has many nieces and nephews she loves spending time with. She is happy to further her passion working with children.
Miss Katie is the Lead Teacher in the 3 year old room. She has been with Sarah’s Heart since 2015. She has lived in Hurricane for 14 years. She has 4 children of her own Dalton, Skylar, Connor, and Devin. Her goal for her classroom is to get them ready for Preschool, give them structure, and teach them manners. We do a lot of fun activities like ABCs, Colors, Shapes, Counting, and Science.
Brittany Casdorph is the teacher’s aide in the Piglets class. She lives St. Albans WV. She has a 3 year old son who is very excited about getting a baby brother in May 2018. She has been in childcare for a year but has always had a passion to work with children. Outside of work she loves to play outside with her son and spending time with family and friends.
Ashley Price is a floater. She is in the classroom when one of the other teachers are off. She has a 3 year old daughter. She loves spending time with her daughter and her neices. She has been in the childcare field for a year.
