Our staff are highly qualified individuals. Each staff and teacher of Sarah’s Heart receives proper continuing education training to help better serve the children of Sarah’s Heart.
Our staff always follows policies, which comply with West Virginia State Codes. All staff members are trained in compliance with West Virginia State licensing codes. All of our staff including the director are required by licensing to be properly trained in the fields below
- CPR and First Aid
- Medication Class (to distribute medicine properly to the children)
- child abuse and neglect
- Drug tested
- beginning at the date of employment teachers are required to maintain 15 hours of training with in the age group they work with per year.
- Employees are required to complete and maintain 45 hours of STARS training every 3 years and must be renewed every 3 years
- Employees that work with infants must complete or have complete ACDS or WVIT 1 and 2
- A degree in early childhood education is preferred but not required among our staff.

Anita Kaye Nutter is the Director of Sarah’s Heart at our location in Hurricane, WV. She has been in the childcare field for 10+ years. She has a passion for helping children. She has a dual degree in Applied Science and Early Childhood Education. Her experience as the director of Sarah’s Heart has shown her all aspects of childcare. She is always looking for new ways to make her center the most accommodating for the children enrolled as well as her staff. Anita has an open door policy for parents, children, and staff members. She believes that every child is different and deserves care based on their needs. She and her staff do their best at Sarah’s Heart to ensure every child is well taken care of.
Maddie Bostick is the Assistant Director at Sarah’s Heart at the Teays Valley, WV location. She worked in childcare for 4 years with children ranging from infant to preschool. She has taken both WIVIT 1 &2 and is working on her ACDS certification which will help her learn new and different techniques to teach children. She enjoys working with children and being able to make a positive impact in each and every child’s life. Maddie is CPR and first aid certified and also has medical administration. Maddie has 3 children of her own. She has 1 daughter and 2 sons.
Sabrina Cain has been with Sarah’s Heart since 2011. She is a Teachers Aid between several classes. She has completed WVIT1 and 2. She has 3 God children that she loves very much. She has attended Otter Branch Church since she was 5 days old. She is the Nursery Sunday School teacher and the Elementary School teacher on Wednesday nights at Otter Branch Church. She very involved in her work place and community.
My name is Sierra and I am the lead nursery teachers! I graduated from Hurricane High School in 2014. I attend Marshall for Speech-Language Pathology for 3 years when I realized that it wasn’t for me and that early education is where my heart was. I have worked in the childcare field since I was 17, teaching children from 6 weeks to 12 years. I am currently enrolled in ACDS courses to further my education and experience for my children. I have an amazing husband named Julius. We have been married for 3 years now and together we have a 1 year old son named Killian. I love to drink a lot of coffee, make t-shirts with my Cricut, and watch Disney movies with my family.
My name is Bree. I’m a graduate from Buffalo High class of 2017. In my free time I like to do make up, sing and spend time with my wonderful family. In the future I plan to attend cosmetology school, but for now I enjoy being the teachers aid in the nursery with the most amazing babies. My grandparents always told me “If you love what you will never work a day in your life.” That couldn’t be more true! I am kind hearted and patient, and compassionate. I always strive to improve and be the best me I can be every day.
My name is Heather and I’m the lead teacher for the Busy Bees which is our two year old classroom. I graduated from Poca High school in 1998. I have two boys of my own Steven (11yo) and Wesley (8yo), I also have a bonus son that just turned 5. I am currently enrolled in ACDS to further my education. I am CPR certified and have many STARS trainings. I enjoy spending time with my family, watching scary movies, listening to music, and cooking.
Hello my name is Taylor and I’ve been working for Sarahs Heart since March 2018. I’ve been the lead teacher for the piglets class, which is our 1 year old class, since April. I love working with children and helping them learn new things every day. In my free time I like to go kayaking, camping, and travel to new places. I’m in my 2ns semester and mountwest for business and I am also currently attending ACDS classes. I am certified in CPR and first Aid and also Medical Administration.
My name is Lena Phillips, and I am currently the preschool aide. I graduated from Penn Foster Online Highschool and Putnam County Technical Center in 2017. I am CPR and First Aid Certified, with multiple STARS straining certificates. My hobbies include free art, reading, and spending time with my two dogs. While enjoying my time as a preschool aide, I am also the illustrator for a children’s self-help book series knows as “Adventures With Freddy”
Hello I am Ariel Adkins, I am the lead teacher in our Spunky Monkeys class, which is our 3 year old class. I have always had a great love for nurturing and teaching children. I am the oldest of eight adopted sibling and one biological sibling. I graduated from Lincoln County High School with High Honor in 2012. I continued my education and graduated from Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College with an associates degree in Education in may 2018. I am CPR certified. I am I am registered in WV STARS and have received state regulated training through their program. I am the mother of Addison and Ezekiel and I have been happily married since September 26th 2016.
Hello! My name Brooke Garretson and I am the teachers aide in the three year old classroom. I have two children of my own. I have medical experience since I am a phlebotomist, I also was 5 months away from graduating school with an associates degree in the medical field before the school I attended shut down. I have 4 years experience working in a daycare. I spend time visiting families with children who have Congenital Heart Defects. My youngest daughter has had 3 open heart surgeries, so spreading CHD Awareness is very important to me. I am CPR and first aide certified as well. Your children’s development is the most important thing to me as their teachers aide.
My name is Trish and I am the busy bee teachers aide. I attended Saint Albans High School and went to Ross Medical Edu. Center after and became a surgical assistant for a while. I’ve been working in childcare for two years now. I’ve taken WVITT and other training courses to further my knowledge with children. Some of my hobbies are dance, art, and playing piano. I volunteer on the weekends as well. I have a fluffy fur baby named Athena who was a rescue. I really enjoy getting to help children learn and grow, and hope to continue doing so in the future.
Hello, my name is Tiffany Adams and I am a floating teacher’s aide at Sarah’s Heart Daycare and Preschool 3. I was born and raised in Hurricane, WV and I graduated from Hurricane High School. Being the oldest sibling in my family has given me the much-needed skills to teach young children. I have three children of my own that keep me very busy with their extracurricular activities. I truly feel that Sarah’s Heart Daycare and Preschool 3 is my second home. We are a great team with incredible passion for each individual child. I believe that some of the most important skills to have when working with little children are patience, flexibility and love. I am very proud of my little ones every day and am very happy to be their teacher and to be given the opportunity to watch them grow. I feel very proud and lucky to be part of such a great group of teachers!
Hello, I’m Jordan Shepherd! I am a teachers aid in the one year old class room. I have completed my ACDS courses and have also completed my stars level 1. I am 19 years old and plan to continue my education in early childhood education. My hobbies include baking and doing crafts.
My name is Jessa, and I am an assistant teacher at Sarah’s Heart. Before working here, I worked at Teays Valley Child Development Center for 3 years, and at Little Life Preschool and Daycare for 6 months before that. I have completed ACDS, or Apprenticeship for Child Development Specialists, among other trainings. I am continuing to do other trainings to further my education for your children. I have experience with infants up to school age children, and I work in most of the classrooms throughout the week here. I am married, and myself and my husband have two children, a four month old baby girl and a five year old boy. I am so happy to be able to use my knowledge and experience to enhance the lives of your children, and to get to know you all better!
I have worked in childcare going on 6 years since I graduated High School. I have also worked the last 10 years with Special needs In –Home care. I have completed the Academy as a Child Development Specialist with High Honors. The last two years I have taken and received my certificate with the West Virginia Infant and toddler specialist Paula Stewart. I am a mother of three amazingly rambunctious children. I enjoy teaching children and building stable relationships with them and their families. My hobbies include fishing, hiking, and swimming, cooking, and spending time with my family. I look forward in getting to know each individual family this year!!!
Hello, my name is Tiffany Lovejoy and I am a teacher’s assistant in the one-year old room at Sarah’s Heart Daycare. I am 23 years old and have a passion for Early childhood education. I have experience from school, clinicals and my daughter. I am in my fourth year of my Early Childhood Education Bachelor’s degree. I have attended Marshall University since 2014. My degree has given me the knowledge to work best in a early childhood setting. During my degree, I have attended different places to complete clinicals. I had the opportunity to learn from the teachers and watch hands on situations. I also got the chance to use my knowledge in the clinicals to help and support the teachers with the children. My second passion is my daughter. Kara Ellen Lovejoy is 15 months old. I learn knew stuff from her each day. I have the opportunity to use my education to raise her the best I can. All of my experiences in my lifetime is shaping me to become the best teacher I can be. I hope to continue my work and finish my degree as soon as possible. After my degree I hope to work with Birth to Three. My degree and work have brought me a long way from who I was right after high school.
My name is Sheika Sites. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for 8 years. I have WIVIT 1 and medical Administration. I have always loved children but was unable to have any of my own. So I’ve went with the next best thing…. living and teaching others children. I’ve been at Sarah’s heart for 5 years and have loved every minute of it! They always put a smile on my face. It is a very rewarding job.
